Ο Αχιλλέας Παπαθεοδώρου είναι Senior Κλινικός Εμβρυολόγος, με εμπειρία σε περισσότερους από 20.000 κύκλους υποβοηθούμενης αναπαραγωγής (ART), πολλοί από τους οποίους αφορούν σε περιστατικά σοβαρής ανδρικής υπογονιμότητας και βιοψίας εμβρύων για προεμφυτευτική γενετική διάγνωση (PGT).
Τα επιστημονικά του ενδιαφέροντα επικεντρώνονται κυρίως στην τεχνική υαλοποίησης, τα ανθρώπινα ωάρια, τα έμβρυα και την κρυοσυντήρηση σπερματοζωαρίων.
Το 2004, αποφοίτησε από το Τμήμα Βιολογίας του ΑΠΘ.
Το 2005 έλαβε Μεταπτυχιακό Τίτλο Σπουδών Ιατρικών Επιστημών (M.Med.Sc.) στην Τεχνολογία Υποβοηθούμενης Αναπαραγωγής (Πανεπιστήμιο του Nottingham, Ηνωμένο Βασίλειο).
Το 2016 του απονεμήθηκε Διδακτορικό Δίπλωμα από την Ιατρική Σχολή του Πανεπιστημίου Ιωαννίνων. Το ερευνητικό του πρόγραμμα ήταν η κλινική εφαρμογή της τεχνικής υαλοποίησης στην κρυοσυντήρηση ωαρίων.
Το 2017 πιστοποιήθηκε από την ESHRE ως Senior/Ανώτερος Kλινικός Eμβρυολόγος.
Ο Αχιλλέας Παπαθεοδώρου εργάστηκε ως κλινικός εμβρυολόγος στη Θεσσαλονίκη,την Αλβανία και την Ιταλία. Επιπλέον, εργάστηκε ως επιστημονικός σύμβουλος του Εργαστηρίου IVF του Νοσοκομείου του Σαν Κάρλο στην Ποτέντσα της Ιταλίας. Επισκέφθηκε πολλές κλινικές εξωσωματικής γονιμοποίησης στην Ιταλία προκειμένου να μοιραστεί τη γνώση και την τεχνογνωσία του με το προσωπικό των Εμβρυολόγων και Ανδρολόγων των Εργαστηρίων τους.
Ο Α.Παπαθεοδώρου, πραγματοποίησε πολλές προφορικές παρουσιάσεις ως προσκεκλημένος ομιλητής σε συνέδρια και πρακτικά εργαστήρια. Ταυτόχρονα συμμετέχει σε ερευνητικά και εκπαιδευτικά προγράμματα για το σύγχρονο εργαστήριο Υποβοηθούμενης Αναπαραγωγής. Είναι ο συγγραφέας πολλών επιστημονικών άρθρων και κεφαλαίων σε σχετικές επιστημονικές εκδόσεις.
Είναι μέλος της Ευρωπαϊκής Εταιρείας Ανθρώπινης Αναπαραγωγής (ESHRE), της Αμερικανικής Εταιρείας Αναπαραγωγικής Ιατρικής (ASRM) και της Ελληνικής Ένωσης Κλινικών Εμβρυολόγων (ΠEKE), στην οποία είναι ο Αντιπρόεδρος.
Ο Αχιλλέας Παπαθεοδώρου απολαμβάνει να περνά χρόνο με την οικογένεια και τους φίλους του. Τα αγαπημένα του χόμπι είναι η φωτογραφία και η συλλογή διαφορετικών τύπων μουσικής.
Ανακαλεί την πρώτη του εμπειρία στο πεδίο της Υποβοηθούμενης Αναπαραγωγής ως τυχαία συνάντηση που οδήγησε σε μια αιώνια αγάπη. Είναι παθιασμένος με την καινοτομία που μπορεί να εφαρμοστεί στον τομέα της εξωσωματικής γονιμοποίησης και να βοηθήσει τα ζευγάρια να φτάσουν με επιτυχία το στόχο τους, να δημιουργήσουν την οικογένειά τους.
