2. Innovative Non-invasive Embryo Culture Technique

Culture and development conditions for the embryo are crucial for delivering the desired result.Embryoscope® is a revolutionary embryo incubation system, approved worldwide as a modern and recommended system for cultivating and developing embryos. It features integrated cameras that automatically download photos from the moment of oocyte fertilisation until the day of embryo transfer.Image capturing generates a time-lapse video, giving our embryologists all key information on the morphological characteristics of the embryos during their development.Another important benefit of using Embryoscope is that the embryo stays in a stable and secure environment and we can observe it inside the incubator. This ensures harmonious embryo development, as we avoid exposure of the embryo, such as changing the temperature and pH, which could have a negative effect on embryo development. The innovative aspect of this system is that it enables embryologists at Embryolab to make a robust evaluation of the embryos, as well as giving them the option to select the most viable ones, unlike conventional development systems applied in IVF. The result is increasing the probability of pregnancy significantly, even for couples with past failures at implantation level. See also: Embryoscope

5. Leading Success Rates according to International Indicators

Embryolab strictly implements the rules followed by other international IVF units regarding the processing and publication of statistical success indicators. Embryolab’s success rates are among the highest in the world, both in aggregate and per age group and per individual donation of genetic material and preimplantation genetic diagnosis.Correct interpretation of statistical data presented by an IVF Unit:An IVF Unit is always rated by its pregnancy results! A natural consequence of this is the worldwide trend to present the highest possible statistical results, aiming to attract a larger number of infertile couples. For the correct interpretation of a Unit’s results, it is very important to take into consideration all the cycles of each age group and each personal health profile. Embryolab does not reject any case, however complex it might be, because all women and couples have the right to become parents. In statistical analysis, it is extremely important to take into account pregnancies of healthy children, not only positive pregnancy tests. The parameters you should consider in the appraisal of statistical success rates are: -The number of IVF cycles: the larger the sample the more representative and reliable the result. The published rates also state the absolute numbers. -The mean age of the women: it shows how selective a Unit is regarding the cases it selects. -The rate of pregnancies per age group (30-35, 35-40, 40-45, etc.,): this more accurately classifies an interested party in relation to the overall mean -The cancelation rate: transparently shows the rate of cases that did not complete the treatment, which is important to know in advance. -Annual updating of statistics. -The rate of positive pregnancy tests does not equal the actual birth rate: some women with positive pregnancy tests have a miscarriage. -The rate of multiple pregnancies: reflects the numbers of embryos implanted and the units’ policy relating to the prevention of obstetric complications. -Special categories of IVF must provide the birth rates and health details of new-borns - for pre-implant diagnostics, for example.See also: Our results

6. Personalised Approach to Clinical and Laboratory Applications

Each couple and each person has different needs. In IVF, there are no one fits-all solutions. 11. Preimplantation Diagnosis Programme in Practice

Embryolab’s laboratory team is highly experienced in pre-implantation diagnosis methods. Embryolab recently published an 8-year-study showing impressive clinical findings in pre-implantation diagnosis. This method is recommended for couples who are carriers of a genetic disease, such as thalassaemia and cystic fibrosis. Couples with such a genetic disorder need to check their embryos before starting a pregnancy, to avoid an interruption of pregnancy, or giving birth to a child diagnosed with a genetic disease.Pre-implantation diagnosis can also be applied in cases where the woman's age is associated with an increased risk of abnormal embryos or where there has been a history of recurrent miscarriages due to chromosomal abnormalities. Embryolab’s pre-implantation diagnosis programme follows strict clinical and laboratory protocols. This highly efficient programme leads to a high birth rate of healthy babies.See also: Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis

14. Strict Standards for Donation Programmes

The donation of genetic material for IVF is widely used with great results. This can be sperm donation, egg donation or embryo donation. The procedure requires thorough testing of both donors and recipients. For egg donors, the tests includes both the assessment of their fertility and their clinical and psychological condition. The legal framework in Greece for the donation of genetic material is one of the most favourable in Europe. The legislation, combined with the high quality services provided by Embryolab and the high success rates, make donation a safe and effective fertility treatment.Embryolab has set up an egg donation programme, designed to ensure maximum effectiveness with high security and care. This is achieved by setting specific criteria: • Only women younger than 30 years old can become donors. • All candidate donors undergo detailed medical, gynaecological, genetic and psychological tests, to document their good physical, reproductive and mental health. • All donors selected sign specific consent forms, as provided by Greek Legislation, which certify that they agree to become egg donors and that they acknowledge the anonymity required by the programme. • Both the phenotypic characteristics of the recipient and the blood groups of the couple are taken into account when selecting the right donor. • Supported by the Greek legislation, which ensures the anonymity of this invaluable action and by Embryolab's well-trained scientific staff, donors can feel safe and enjoy extensive care at each step of the process. • Only mild stimulation schemes are applied to ensure eggs of high quality and effectiveness. • If the donor fails to respond satisfactorily to the medication, the attempt is stopped and is started again with a new donor, at no extra charge to the couple. • At the end of the process, the couple will receive a health certificate of the donor, stating her age and all the tests she has undergone.Embryolab’s egg donation programme ensures very high pregnancy rates, leading to the fulfilment of the most important dream, motherhood!See also: High-standard Donor Programmes
